This post is in response to The Friday Fictioneers Challenge. In addition to the 100 word maximum we are also to write in a genre unfamiliar to us. I chose Children’s Fiction.
Justin quickly closed the shoe box and slid it under his bed. He could hear his mother’s footsteps coming down the hall. She gently tapped on the door then opened it. Your cousins will be here in ten minutes and then we are leaving for the fireworks. Get your coat, a hat and gloves and meet us downstairs. “Okay Mom” he said. He did as she said and hurried down the steps. He and his cousin Jeremy were best buds. They were both in the fifth grade and their friends called them J & J.
Tonight was going to be epic!
