This week’s travel theme from http://wheresmybackpack.com/2012/12/14/travel-theme-transportation/ is Transportation. I have many pictures of different kinds of transportation. I am a lover of planes trains and automobiles, not to mention boats! However I think the most unique pictures that I have are from my Washington DC collection so I decided to limit the gallery to just pictures of transportation in Washington DC. Enjoy!
- Getting into DC is always a challenge.
- I-495 is often a parking lot more than it is a beltway.
- Ascending from the bowels of..I mean from the Metro
- An interesting way to see DC The Duck patrol a boat on land….
- …becomes a boat on the river.
- Some houseboats in the Washington Channel
- Paddle-boats on the river surrounding The Jefferson Memorial
- Smart Car might be a smart way to get a parking place in DC but I’d hate to crash in it; it doesn’t look very safe.
- When you are out in about sightseeing sometimes a Red Bull boost is just what is needed.
- There area a few buses made to resemble trolleys that carry sightseers through the city.
- Sometimes the best way to get around DC is to walk!
- I want to try this mode of transportation..one day.
- Bicycles are another great mode for seeing the city but not if you are taking the metro.
- The metro is fast and efficient; as long as NOTHING goes wrong!
- Some brave souls drive.
- Catch a taxi and you can pay to sit in traffic!
- Always a parking problem.
- Several companies offer river cruises. It’s a fun, relaxing, and efficient way to see the sights but unlike the buses you can’t get off if you want to tour a monument.
- Riverboat cruises along the Georgetown Harbor.
- All aboard!
- Seems like a great way to travel the city; or at least the river.
- The Regan National Airport is in DC and planes zip through the sky continually.
- One of the many planes taking off from The Regan National Airport .
- Helicopters are also prevalent in DC. This one is a news chopper.
- We imagined these copters as secret service scouring the perimeter.
- The park police are friendly and the kids love their horses.
- I couldn’t help but include this statue that was one of four gifts from Italy in 1951.
