Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Autumn

Autumn could easily be my favorite season. I love spring and it’s cool temperatures and the wide variety of beautiful blooms which soon give way to a lush green.

Summer is fun time! Unless it is miserably hot and humid, which often happens here 100 miles from Washington DC. You can plan any outdoor activity and know with a high percentage of certainty it will not be called off due to the weather in the summertime. Even if it rains; in the summer, it’s usually only temporary. My saying is “Hazy, hot, and humid chance of showers”; that’s the forecast from late June through August in our neck of the woods.

Winter, you can keep.

But autumn is special. I fell in love one autumn not long ago. As the low man on the totem pole in my office my choice of vacation days is limited by what the 5 other women want first. I soon found a way out of this frustrating position by taking my days in October. This is when my real love of autumn maybe not began but certainly blossomed.

Autumn is about color..and apples! Apple pies, apple cider, applesauce, and apple butter. Autumn is about crisp air and back to school and crunchy leaves. Autumn is about scarecrows, and pumpkins, mums, and Halloween. It’s about football and family, turkey and Thanksgiving. What’s not to like about autumn?
