Velvet Verbosity: Flapped

This post is in response to the 100 word writing challenge Velvet Verbosity where we are asked to write 100 words inspired by a single prompt. This week’s word is Flapped.

I felt like a bird, so free.
My wings expanded and I flapped through the wind.
I held my head up and climbed into the clouds.

I dived to the water then barely slowing down, changed direction and once again I ascended for the heavens.
My wings pumped like a child on a swing. Reaching. Higher.

I was unstoppable, powerful; the master of my domain.

Others would follow; using my velocity to gain their own momentum.

Some would try to take the lead. I did not even glance at them.
I spread my wings further and I soared.

My dream.

  1. beautiful picture – and the emotion in your words carries through. We are blessed to have eagles as an every day common sight . . . sometimes we forget to glory in that vision.
