And now my 100 word story:

I love this time of year. I love the crisp autumn air, I love an argyle cardigan around my shoulders; my camera in my hand.

This is what gives me peace.

Autumn brings back so many memories. I fell in love one autumn. Three years later I fell out of love, in autumn.

I’m okay being alone, out here where the crunch of the leaves is the only sound I hear. A gentle breeze whistles and I look up and see a swirl of color romantically dancing above my head.

I try to focus but my tears make it difficult.

  1. Dear Dawn,

Well written, well lived. There is a certain value to having weathered life’s storms. It helps after time to build a safe harbor in your heart.

    I enjoyed your heartfelt story.

    Aloha,

    Doug

  2. Hi Dawn,
These are such personal reflections. They sound very authentic. On a bright note, literally, I’m hoping for a big blaze of autumn color to go out and photograph. Happy picture taking! Ron

  3. This is beautiful, and very evocative. It captures the mood of autumn quite well, with its endings and beginnings (and that feeling of stasis, caught in between summer and winter, between the current year and the oncoming) all rolled into one. 🙂
