Velvet Verbosity: Bend of the River

It’s cold outside but I have to go.
The river is calling me.
I bundle up; my best over coat, hat, gloves, and scarf.
I walk quickly and breathe the frigid air into my lungs.
I am searching for an answer.

The river is flowing nicely; ripples reflecting the last light of this November day.
I can hear it.
I can see it.

A breeze blows the mist onto my face.
I can feel it
I can taste it.

Pools of fish swim just below the surface.
I look to them for the answer
And then it comes to me.

This is the Shenandoah River near my home. A quiet place to go to think.

This post is in response to the 100 word writing challenge from Velvet Verbosity where we are asked to write 100 words inspired by a single prompt. This week’s word is Bend.
