Velvet Verbosity~ Four Square

I think about the past and I feel my muscles constricting;
my neck, shoulders, my chest.
This is stress and what it does to the body.

Lies, manipulation, walking on egg shells.
How quickly I have forgotten
But my body reminds me
It is up to me to listen.
It is up to me to let go of the past.

Breathe.
In, 1,2,3,4
Out 1,2,3,4
Repeat
Times 4.

“Clear your mind” I tell myself
“Find your happy place”
“Dare to dream”

I think of the future
Alone
And I feel the burn
As the tears fill my eyes

Breathe
1,2,3,4

Four square is a stress reducing breathing method I learned many years ago. It is very effective. If you are plagued with stress (and who isn’t?) visit this site for instructions on the foursquare breathing method and other relaxation techniques. http://www.sweetescapeyoga.com/simple-stress-relief-wsquare-breathing/

This post is in response to the 100 word writing challenge from Velvet Verbosity where we are asked to write 100 words inspired by a single prompt. This week’s word is Burn.
