This is something I always struggle with – most photos I take have the subject exactly in the centre.

There’s really nothing wrong with that. If you mentally divide the photo into a tic tac toe board and your subject falls into any of those squares, that is the rule of thirds.

Thanks for the info, but I, like draliman, don’t really get the 1/3 thing. I was told I did it once but I still couldn’t see it. P.S. Does photo of the week replace weekly photo challenge or are there two different challenges? I read the link you put here but it sounds the same to me.
