Sunday my friends and I went to The Renaissance Festival in Annapolis Maryland. Annapolis is 3 hours from our home now but not too far from where I grew up. As a young adult I had always wanted to go. I might have waited too long.
We spent three hours walking around among the medieval themed shops and watching some of the shows but in the end decided this was the kind of fantasy better enjoyed by the younger set.
I don’t know what it is that turned me off exactly. It might have been the commercialism but after all, isn’t that typical of a market square, to have lots of vendors?
It might have been the crowds. When we first arrived I was amused by the players and guests dressed in their costumes and saying things like “Ma lady” but by the time I left I felt like I was in a throng of people and my claustrophobia was kicking in.
Later when preparing this post I visited their facebook page and thought..”Oh wow, that looks like fun!”
I may be fickle

A very amusing show. the children’s laughter resonated throughout the audience, which made me laugh more than the talented performers themselves.
- I’m fascinated by glassblowing and glass-works. My friends indulged me while I watched.
- I was waitng for the horn to sound.
- I will not say anything about the short shorts.
- The final show we enjoyed was The Birds of Prey. Here he is showing us the fake bait he uses to show his birds.
- The trainer talked for a long time before he began his demonstration. The crowd was beginning to fidget but I found him interesting.
- This beauty honed in on the bait. After the trainer fed him something.IDK..chicken maybe?
Good conclusion to the day 😊

It was the main thing I was looking forward to. I would love to take more people pictures on the street but I am always shy about asking.. I knew these peoplke were there to have their picture taken. I should have got more, really.

It does look lie fun, but I’m with you and the crowds, ma lady.

Right about the photos, Dawn. These folk are just there to pose. 🙂 And have fun. All except that poor wee girl on the horse. 😦
