When I was visiting Roanoke Virginia a few weeks ago my friend and I went to the roof top of the Center of the Square, a building in downtown Roanoke that houses museums, theaters, and aquariums, among other things. It was too late in the day to visit the inside of the building but just perfect for visiting the top of it.

My friend who lives there, who left this beautiful valley I live in, to live there; says that what she likes best is she can have a somewhat city life and still be surrounded by the mountains. Win. Win here in Virginia.

That is a really neat blessing. I have visited several cities that sort of spring right out of the mountains. It isd an odd mix of country and urban living that happens in such places.

I grew fond of Roanoke in my two day stay. I hope to go back and see if I like it more or less.
