At last count there were 270 wineries in Virginia, the state in which I live. Most of them are named after the property they set on or some other such clever wording. Recently I came across a few that were named with numbers. I am wondering if we have run out of names (just kidding, of course).
One such winery is 868 Estate Vineyards. Their web site describes their name as haven been derived from the fact that The 868 Estate Vineyard property boasts the highest elevation in the valley between the Short Hills and Blue Ridge mountain ranges at 868 feet.
They are also one of the few wineries with a restaurant, which is why my hungry friend and I went there one Sunday afternoon. It turned out the restaurant was closed for a few hours and so we satisfied ourselves with a hot dog and a glass of very good chardonnay (my friend had Sangria) and listened to some music in the pavilion.

Looks like a beautiful place!
