Velvet Verbosity: Once

This post is in response to the 100 word writing challenge from Velvet Verbosity where we are asked to write 100 words inspired by a single prompt. This week’s word is Once.

Once was all I should have ever allowed
But I didn’t stop you
I couldn’t stop you
I assumed that you loved me enough to stop

But if you loved me enough
there would have never been a once
let alone a twice, or a third time
I should have never conceded you that once

I should have walked away long before
there was a fourth or a fifth time
I should have never ignored it once.
I have learned my lesson

I will never again let someone do that
not even once
My walls are high
I am surrounded
