Velvet Verbosity: Sheltering

When my first-born came into my life I was so very young. I knew not what to do but to cradle him close and shelter him.

Two years later when his sister was born I was still so young, too young, really, to be a mother of two little children who needed sheltering.

The youngest came much later and I was older, wiser, and calmer. I don’t know that I was ever any good as a mother; I doubt it still today but I knew the basics.

I knew they needed food, love and sheltering.

This post is in response to the 100 word writing challenge from Velvet Verbosity where we are asked to write 100 words inspired by a single prompt. This week’s word is Sheltering.
