Velvet Verbosity: Library

This post is in response to the 100 word writing challenge from Velvet Verbosity where we are asked to write 100 words inspired by a single prompt. This week’s word is Library.

The library was her refuge
From the storm
From the wreckage
From the place she called home

In here was a world of acceptance
Of fantasy
Of dreams that might come true

Her home was filled with words of hate
They spewed from her parents mouths

At the world

The library was filled with words of her choosing
She chose kindness

Good over evil
The underdog
The triumphant
Words that fed her soul

She read each volume with a thirst
For knowledge
For power
Over her own life
If only
In the library.
