Share Your World 2015: Week #16

What are your favorite spices?
I love chives, garlic, sea salt, and fresh ground pepper. I also like cilantro and basil in certain dishes. A friend recently told me she loves rosemary. I think I must try some.

What object do you always have with you when traveling and why?
My camera. It’s my companion.

What is one thing you love about being an adult?
Oh wow, so many things. I’ve been an adult for a long time so I don’t sadly reminisce about my childhood any more like some younger people might. And since I have turned 50 being an adult is even more awesome.

What item, that you don’t have already, would you most like to own?
I think I would like to have a stock portfolio that paid high monthly dividends.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?
Aaahhh last week. Well last week was kind of a hard one. My ex got married and my emotions were all over the place. Even more so when he messaged me five days before his wedding. But my friends, you know my friends, my awesome friends; rallied around me and did not allow me to be glum.

My friend Brenda was first. “We should CELEBRATE” she shouted. “It’s finally done. No more wondering and worrying. Can we get back together? Will we get back together? Blah blah blah!”

My friend Diane, upon hearing about his message suggested I celebrate NOT getting married. “That poor woman” she sighed. I’m so grateful for that insight. Sometimes I need to be kicked out of my bubble to see the world around me.

My friend Tiffany, whose teenage son was recently diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes reminded me thorough her latest story that an ex getting married was not a big deal, certainly not when compared to the life of your child. Note: these were absolutely not her words. She was totally sympathetic to my emotions but after hearing her story I came away with my own perspective.

And then there was Kathy, my lovey friend Kathy who spent the day with me on Thursday, enjoying the sunshine, having meaningful and silly conversations, trying on hats, and ogling over jewelery after lunch.

It was just a perfect couple of days to remind me what a good life I have and how very much I have to be grateful for.

Coming Up: In search of Eagles.

  1. I now remember the date of my separation, not my wedding date. I celebrate who I am, and how far I have come. You are strong and you have some wonderful friends. Thinking of you.

  2. You have a lot going for you. Being grateful is sometimes something that we forget to be, but friends, posts, etc. They are good daily reminders. I watch the news. That makes me VERY grateful! Dang! There’s a lot of bad stuff out there: weather, earthquakes, volcano eruptions, accidents, and some badass people. We are sooooooo lucky. Smile. You got it ALL goin’ on. πŸ™‚
