Friday Fictioneers: The Descent

Welcome to Friday Fictioneers where each week close to 100 people participate in a flash fiction challenge based on a photo prompt.

And now my 100 word story:

Erin had been clean for six months when her boyfriend was killed in a random shooting. She tried to focus but she was often depressed and she lost her job.

She started drinking again.

Unable to pay her rent she was evicted from her apartment.

She slept in her car a few times until one night she wrecked it. She broke her leg, and spent the night in the hospital.

When she got out she was without a car, a home, a job, or anyone to help her.

The pain pills helped but they were soon gone.

She didn’t have money for prescriptions so she looked for something cheaper.

She met a guy who let her stay with him.

He took care of everything.

  1. I like to meet a guy who would take care of everything. Maybe this could lead to something good instead of bad. Ever hopeful! I hate that phrase though.
