Ornate at The Gathering

I enjoyed some good times with friends this week at The Gathering, a Native American celebration performed to honor the harvest season. I was impressed with the colors and patterns found in the Native American culture. Of course I had noticed it before but I had never really thought about it or looked at it with a photographer’s eye.

There were many exhibits, like this woman demonstrating her craft and explaining the various patterns that distinguish each tribe and the reasons for the variety of templates, whether it be sadness or celebration.
