Bench Memorial in Ginkgo Grove

I’ve often said I would like to be memorialized with a bench. This one is awesome. It sets at the edge of the ginkgo grove at our state arboretum and is inscribed:

In loving memory of Frances Mitchell 1950-2009
We are stardust
We are golden
And we’ve got to get ourselves
Back to the garden

I wonder if the deceased is any relation to the songstress?

  1. What great words for this setting, I assume from the name that it is full of Ginkgo trees? I know the song from Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young who were favourites of mine in the 70s but hadn’t realised that Joni Mitchell actually wrote it. I need to make sure my family know where I want a bench to be sited in my memory and what words I would like 🙂
