Celebrating: I Am on a Roll!

Welcome to toot-my-own-horn-Saturday. I’m so glad to have something to toot about. Toot! Toot!

Last week I was feeling a little dejected because one of my photo friends has a show in the town hall this month. The same place I had one two years ago! Don’t get me wrong, I am happy for my friend and wish him every bit of success but nothing has really happened for me in two years and I realize that most of that is my fault.

I know that if you really want things to happen you have to make them happen. I’ve just been happily going along; working my regular job, spending time with friends, going on my mini vacations; living my life.

And then I was contacted by Shenandoah Living Magazine asking for use of my abandoned homes pictures from the county. This is a local magazine and although it is not a paid gig it will give me wonderful exposure and boost my ego, maybe enough for me to make some things happen!

And as if that wasn’t enough a kind Pastor from Cary United Methodist Church in Cary Illinois asked for permission to use my poem The Scent of Spring in an upcoming sermon. Again, no monetary gain here but I expect to score a few points with the Big Guy, you can’t go wrong there. 😉

  1. Congratulations! I can see why the magazine would want to use your abandoned house photos – they’re awesome! You’re so good at capturing an atmospheric mood. (I’m not sure those are exactly the right words for what I’m trying to say – I have major migraine brain today.) And congrats on the poem! You are on a roll!
