Instinctively in the Shadows

I see his shadow but I feel no fear
Still I hold back
Hiding
Waiting
A sudden movement startles me
I see him look around
I duck deeper into the shadow
Hiding
Waiting
He looks at his watch and I know I am late
But I do not move
I am hiding
Waiting
He makes a call
“She did not show” he says and hangs up
This is my chance and I begin to step out
when a glint catches my eye
He removes the gun from his pocket
And puts the safety
On

The month of April is National Poetry Month and so with that in mind, I am going to attempt to make all my Wednesday offering poems. Key word: attempt.

Sunday Photo Fiction is a weekly writing challenge of about 200 words based on the provided photograph. To read other stories click here.
