Floral Friday Foto: Crimson Clover

Three years ago I posted pictures of what I thought was red clover and a whole story of how I found out what it was. (Click here). Recently I learned that most of what I reported in that post was wrong. Consider this a retraction.

I’ve been informed that this was a field of Crimson Clover, inedible and quite different from its cousin, red. Unfortunately, I have to use the same pictures from my earlier post because the farmer has not planted this crop again; yet. I watch for it every spring.

Naturally, while preparing this post I kept thinking of the words to Crimson Clover, the 1968 tune from Tommy James and The Shondells. Want to sing along? Here you go!
