Friday Fictioneers: Managing the Department

Kate rubbed her temples. She rolled her shoulders and her head back and forth trying to alleviate the tension that was causing her latest headache.

The phone rang. “This is Kate”. She listened intently, then spoke. “I need you to meet the standards we have outlined for every product we produce.” She rolled her shoulders again as she listened.

“Our customers have come to expect a standard. As an employee, you too have expectations to meet. Is this understood?” A short response on the other end and Kate thanked the caller for letting her help him.

She reached for some aspirin when the phone rang….
