Festival of Leaves 2016 ~ Week #1: The Walnut Trees

It’s the first week of September, Autumn is still a few weeks away. The children are all back in school and the empty-nesters flock to the beach to enjoy the last few weeks of summer. Every now and then the temperature will drop and give us a hint of what is to come but we wait, patiently; because we know that once it is here it is soon gone.

In my neighborhood things are still pretty green, that is except for those that have turned brown from the heat and lack of rain. I wondered what to post for this first week when I spied, out my kitchen window, the tiny leaves of my walnut tree turning yellow and fluttering to the ground.

It’s not much, but its a start.

  1. It is still quite early to start the festival, that’s right. I also had a hard time finding any coloured leaves that are not suffering from the dry and hot weather but have changed their colours because they sense the autumn coming.
How lovely, though, that you shared this beautiful tree with us – it is a weird time of the year. We experience another heat wave right now in Germany and it is difficult to believe that it already is September.

Thanks for taking part with this great picture, Dawn, and see you next week! xxx
