If you visit my blog you probably know that I spend a good amount of time on Skyline Drive in the Shenandoah National Park. The highest point there, is Hawksbill Mountain which comes in at 4,050 feet.

Signal Knob, the peak that over looks the town where I live measures 2,106′ and I recently passed Old Rag during a day trip which tops out at 3,284′ .

The highest peak in Virginia at 5,729 ft. is Mount Rogers, a place I have never been but is now on my list, along with the second highest (and more accessible) Whitetop Mountain

The folks out west scoff at our calling these places mountains, when in California their mountains top 14,000 feet, a mere hill to the highest in the country, Denali (20,156 feet).
