Six Word Saturday ~ There Is Something Wrong With Us

We are all tormented by feelings of in-adequateness at one time or another. Many of us will postpone self-acceptance until that day in the future when we’re thinner, wealthier, more successful, and more popular.

It took me 50 years to really grasp this and sometimes I still forget.

I’ve been thinking a lot about this lately and have concluded that it is the lack of self acceptance that plays into the us/we divisions we see more and more of. We may be hard on ourselves but then we give ourselves a break by looking at another person’s shortcomings and breathing a sigh of relief that at least we are not like them. By that same token we see people with successes we covet and either glorify them or try to drop them down a notch with passive aggressive behavior.

I want to tell others who haven’t quite got it: “You are perfect just as you are. Even when you are working to improve and grow, you are complete. Ypou don’t need others to fail in order to succeed. We are all in this together” I wish someone had told me sooner.
