I’ve always been a woman with sensible shoes
Good posture
High morals
Scruples
People look me over and automatically decide
I am delicate
I need sheltering
Protecting
They become someone different around me
No cursing
Raucous behavior
Stepping out of line
I’m a librarian, of course
I look the part
So why not play it?
It keeps people off guard
The men are especially gullible
They are so easily manipulated
Most will do whatever I ask
Go wherever I suggest
They have decided I can be trusted
It’s part of the ruse
The best part, really
That look of surprise
When the knife goes in

Dear Dawn,
Have you been channeling C.E. Ayr? This one took me completely by surprise…like one of her victims. 😉 Good job!

Dawn – It will sound like I am being contrary to the theme, but I just offer this anecdote. My wife often looks at me when I drag her into a project ands says “You do still remember I am a girl, right?” It is because she is on the other end of some heavy object we are trying to tote somewhere. I don’t consider her weaker, but I know her body is constructed for different purposes. I liked this!

I had the same situation with my husband. He called me Xena his warrior princess because I could heft around whatever he needed help with…

Dawn, this was so very good. I like it when someone treads the mean path, on paper that is.

You built such a pretty picture
That foretold a simple future
The end was an unexpected fright

Well done, Dawn,. Very well crafted. They always seem to be looking for the ones who blend in and who better than a librarian. I used to work in a very conservative company, yet the librarian always wore fishnets. I reckon she had a wild side as well, though I don’t think it was of the murdering kind. Although there was this girl at work…

Dawn,
Another fabulous write … men should be made to wear high heeled shoes for awhile. Perhaps, they wouldn’t be so enticed by them. HA … great write.
