Friday Fictioneers: An Epiphany in the Street

Rosalie lumbered home her heart heavier than her packages, her husband, of five years, on her mind. She believed Frank adored her but last night he told her he didn’t love her any more. Rosalie spent the day trying to understand what she had done wrong.

When they met Frank was married to someone else. Rosalie wouldn’t normally take up with a married man but through work they had become friends. They laughed easily together and when Frank described his wife and how unhappy he was at home she sympathized.

Rosalie stopped in the middle of the street. Suddenly it was clear.
