A piece of clothing from your younger childhood you still remember?
When I was five I was in a serious car accident with my grandmother and the rest of my immediate family. This was in 1966 and there were no seat belt laws like there are today. I was in the front seat between my father and my grandmother. The gear shift went through my chest. It was March so I was wearing a coat. A little red coat which I don’t remember before the accident but saw later (after several months of recovery) at a neighbors house, in her closet. It had been cleaned but the hole was still there where the gear shift had entered. The neighbor showed me and said that my mother (who thought it was bad luck) hated that coat but she loved it because she thought it saved my life.
Regardless of your physical fitness, coordination or agility, if you could be an athlete what would do do?
I really have no desire to be an athlete but I do wish I was more athletic. I like Colline’s answer about being a dancer but dancers (or any athletes) work really hard. I’d rather dance for fun and be good at it (maybe not great but good). I also love to swim and when I was younger I played a little (very little) tennis. I wish I had the time, the means, and the body to enjoy those pursuits often.
In a car would you rather drive or be a passenger?
When my ex and I were together I loved that he drove. He was excellent at pulling over when I saw something to photograph. But now when I go out with friends I rarely ask them to pull over. I’ve gotten used to driving myself.
What did you appreciate or what made you smile this past week?
Another roller coaster week that began with good news from the doctor. I’ll take that!
Your mother has good reason to love that piece of clothing – and she is probably right about it saving your life 🙂

My mother didn’t love it, she hated it. My neighbor is the one who saw the good in it. It was red, as was the car we were driving. All through my growing up years she NEVER dressed me in anything red again.
