The Best Books I Read in 2018

I read 40 books in 2018.

Most of my books I read on my Kindle because of it’s ease of use. But I also read “real” books, and always carry one with me, to read while waiting.

I’m not very good at writing reviews but I leave them anyway because I read reviews and I know they are important to authors.

The books I have listed are my four and five star reviews on Amazon. In the past I didn’t typically give out five stars because I felt a five-star book was a classic like Of Mice and Men or my favorite book of all time, Pillars of the Earth, but somewhere along the line I forgot that and started giving out five stars. My apologies to the authors I may have “cheated” in the past.

My list for 2018 in no particular order:

Crown Heights
Winter Loon
Never Stop Walking: A Memoir of Finding Home Across the World
The Home for Unwanted Girls
The Date
Still Alice
Mystic River
The Reluctant Detective
Born Survivors: Three Young Mothers and Their Extraordinary Story of Courage, Defiance, and Hope
The Fixer
Daughters of the Night Sky
Coming Clean: A Memoir
The House of Closed Doors
The Water Is Wide
The Art Forger
Not Exactly Love
The Worst Hard Time: The Untold Story of Those Who Survived the Great American Dust Bowl

  1. Lovely photo and post, Dawn. In one of the HitchHiker’s Guide books, he wrote “Always carry a towel.” For you an me, that should be “Always carry a book.” Happy New Year. Best, Babsje
