Friday Fictioneers: The Christmas I Got You

As we sat around the tree my children asked me again, to tell them their favorite Christmas story. So I did.

The bus reached its stop before I did and so I held tight to my many packages and sprinted, shouting “Hold that bus!”

Just then a man ran in front of me saying “I got you” as he passed me. He reached the door of the bus and stood there until I could board then followed me on. It was standing room only and I found a pole, to wrap my laden arms around. The bus lurched and so did I, but then a familiar voice steadied me from behind saying, “I got you”.

I wrote two stories today. They are better together (I think) but you can read one without the other (I think). This is part one. Part two is here The Christmas You Got Me.
