We are in summer re-runs, yay! I get to reprise a story I wrote in 2013 here, which works wonderfully for me with everything I have on my to do list. Thanks Rochelle.
I changed a few words but the story is the same:
It’s a habit I can’t seem to break. Each time I walk by that little window in the hall I peek out and look for her. I know she’s not there. She’s been gone a year now. Every time I look and don’t see her, I am reminded of her absence and I feel a stab to my heart. Why do I still look? You might think it’s because I forget but that’s not it because sometimes, I consciously go through the dining room to avoid that window. Perhaps it is time for a new dog to join our family.

I’m all for that! Even though I didn’t do that. Nice story, Dawn.

The loss of pets is often underestimated. Perhaps a new pet is in order – not to replace, but to fill.

At least when she looks out she will see a new love waiting to play.

I think it is a very good idea. I have had a number of pets but there are two (one cat and one dog) that I still miss years later.

Dear Dawn,
I’d say it’s time for a new pet. Not to forget the one who’s gone but to fill the void it left. Nicely done. Happy you had a rerun. 😉 Happy you’ve been with us that long.
Shalom,
Rochelle

Could a new one ever replace the one that passed? I’m not so sure.

After our Springer spaniel was hit and killed by a car, we all grieved. All of us got caught looking out into the back yard, hoping it had just been a bad dream.
