Share Your World: December 19, 2020

What news event do you vividly remember hearing about as a child, and where were you?
Vividly is a tricky term. I can remember being in my classroom watching an Apollo mission. I thought it was the moonwalk but that was in July, we didn’t have school in July, so that couldn’t have been it, although I do remember watching a launch at school. Perhaps my first most vivid recollection of a newsworthy event Spiro Agnew Resigns. My mother was so disappointed. I remember her saying “I thought he was one of the good ones”.

What is a Christmas song that makes you cringe?
I really love most Christmas Songs but the one that truly makes me cringe is Last Christmas…ugh…turn it off!

What is one place you shop(ped prior to Covid) that might have surprised people?
No surprises here.

What is your least favorite holiday side dish?
My son loves sweet potatoes, I do not, so there is that. I also do not care for pumpkin pie. Is that a side?

What brought gratitude, a smile or laughter to your life this week?
I took some time off this week to spend it with friends but it snowed so I was a little bummed about that but grateful not to have to go to work in it. However I was fortunate enough to be one of the first at the hospital I work to receive the COVID vaccine, that is something to be very grateful for.

  1. Thanks Dawn for Sharing Your World! I hope you keep us posted as to how the vaccine is working with you! I’ve already seen one article listing the ‘side effects’ of it, and I was thinking to myself “Really? Can’t you just let us enjoy a bit of relief before you start with the negative aspects?’ I’m so glad for you to have gotten it! And I’d love to hear some positive news about it too! I think even with snow a day off from work isn’t a bad thing at all. Cozy even perhaps with snow? Sweet potatoes or yams (different veggies) are not on my favorite list either, far too mushy and sweet (ugh). The walk on the moon happened when I was about six or seven (I think) and I don’t even remember a thing about that, but I do remember JFK’s assassination. It’s odd what the memory serves up when we think about such things! Have a very jolly week coming up!
