An Archive of Decline

I have been drawn to the abandoned,the ruins, the things that have seen better days for over a decade. The first time was when I spotted this home in my parents borderline upscale neighborhood.

Later in my Lingering Look at Windows Challenge I highlighted the windows from the Barboursville Ruins

I did a photo essay of black and white “abandoned” dwellings from our county for (the now defunct) Shenandoah Living Magazine a few years back and in 2013-2014 I hosted an architecture challenge with monthly themes. The May theme was abandoned.

So as you can guess I have quite the archive to meet this challenge. Here’s a sample:

  1. dawn, such a great title for the post and then the photos really did show that decide and “seen better days” vibe – oh so well
    the house with the lattice trim on the porch really made me wonder about the history of that once loved home
