I stood at the edge of the river looking out over its vastness, thinking about all we had lost.
David and I went to high school together. We started dating in our junior year and became the dynamic duo. I was valedictorian, he was student-body president. We had dreams of a future being a power couple after university. But college did us in.
Initially it was just a little something to help him study, but the spiral had begun and by year three he was choosing the drugs over everything else. First it was school, then it was me.
