Summer officially begins in these parts on June 21st, the day before my birthday. Ever since I was a kid summer has been my favorite season. This year is no different. My summer started on June 22, a Saturday this year. Now normally I don’t do much on Saturdays because I work Friday nights and Saturday is my turnaround day. But it was my birthday and there was a Super Moon!
The following day I drove to PA to see my sister and her hubby and let them buy me a birthday dinner. I took the scenic route, of course.
The last weekend in June my friends and I kicked off our summer at, where else but a winery. Valerie Hill, to be exact where one of our favorite local musicians serenaded us while we drank wine and sang along. Yes, good old summer time.
The following week was the fourth of July and another one of my sisters was camping at her in-law’s cabin along the Potomac River as she does many years on the fourth of July. It’s about an hour drive for me and a gorgeous drive at that. My car was in the shop so my ex was gracious enough to drive me.
Next two of my friends and I went to Fredericksburg Virginia to take in the old town, the history, and the architecture. On the way home we stopped at a winery, but of course!
A few days later I went with friend to DC to visit the Newseum. It was a super hot day, perfect weather to visit air-conditioned museums! They just opened an exhibit on JFK and family I was interested in seeing. A photography exhibit, but of course. I never realized Jackie had so many freckles.
I love summertime! And we are just getting started. We haven’t been swimming, or camping, canoeing, or to a baseball game. We are however eating royally because the best part of summertime, by far is the fresh fruit and vegetables..yum yum!

Looks like you summer is going quite well. Nice shots. Your niece’s daughter is a beauty. And no matter how many freckles, so is Jackie O.

Well I have lots of freckles so I was happily surprised to see she did as well. I wish I had known that growing up. I would have used it against them mean boys who teased me!
