Donald walked the last three blocks home alone. He didn’t mind being alone, in fact he liked it. He thought of what he would do when he got home. He would tell his mother he needed to study and build a fort in his room.
He didn’t think of it as lying because to him studying often meant being alone with his thoughts and his grades were good so his mother didn’t nag him.
He could play with his Legos in his fort without anyone bothering him. Donald liked to build things like walls and forts. They kept people out.

Dawn,
This is an excellent view into the thoughts of a contemplative child. I remember being like this–except without the LEGO.
Nice sketch.
All my best,

I have a feeling that he will be less charming when he grows up. Maybe the size of his Lego bricks will grow.

Donald likes to build walls… they keep people out… uh-huh. And seeing one’s own interpretation as truth–which other people might perceive as lie–spot on. But maybe I’m interpreting too much into your clever story. 🙂

Hmm looks like you trumped us all about the story about the introverted Donald 😉 Wonder if he wants to build fences when he grows up?

This story takes me to Donald – the extrovert – who wants to build forts and wall . Maybe we should encourage introversion 😉 Good story.

You reminded me of how I used to like building dam’s. Perhaps I was wanting to hold back time. Great story. Mike

There’s nothing better than a fort to keep people out. They’re the best. Every kid has to experience them. I think I need an adult fort, really. I enjoyed your story, Dawn.

Well, he’s certainly come a long way now. Still the same hang-up with walls, I guess.

I can relate to Donald. The one in your story, of course. I didn’t have many childhood friends and I liked to be alone with my books and music.

Me too, really. I had friends but I preferred to read.

At least he’s busy using his imagination. He might one day be a successful architect. Not all children are alike. My son preferred reading a book to watching TV when he was young. Good story, Dawn. well done. 🙂 — Suzanne
