Friday Fictioneers: Escape from Testosterone

It’s 3 o’clock Saturday afternoon and I just got the tent up. It took me all morning to get the house in order and my two sons and husband straight so I could leave them for a little overnight sabbatical. I am fifteen minutes from home at the nearby state park.

Its 24 hours of just me, nature, and my bible.

I live for this; this solitude. It’s better than shopping, or lunch with a girlfriend, even better than a mani-pedi.

I love my boys, I do, but…shhh…listen to that.

Breathe in…Smell that!

And now, I am going to read.

  1. Change the tent for a comfy hotel room, and I’m in! (Had my share of tent days!) I live with only males… the need to get away is, at times, overwhelming!

  2. Oh, this makes me want to go out and go “tenting tonight” because I forgot how much I enjoyed it when I was younger. The last time I camped out was in the Army! Haha!

    Good job, Dawn!

  3. Dear Dawn,

I could so relate to this. When people ask if I go with my husband to Sturgis I smile and say this is my vacation. I could feel her tense muscles relax. Nicely done.

    Shalom,

    Rochelle
