We are starting to get some spotty color around here but the most vibrant comes from a vine rather than a tree. The Virginia Creeper is abundant in our woods and its red stands out beautifully this time of year.
I love autumn so I am hosting the 2021 Festival of Leaves Challenge. I will post every Thursday and I invite everyone to join in any time through the week for any or all weeks.
This challenge usually runs about 10-12 weeks, with the last week being a wrap up. You can link up here or on any of the individual weeks. Be sure to tag your post Festival of Leaves so it is easy to find in the reader.

We are getting spotty color too, though supposedly the weather is going to get colder tomorrow. Our Virginia creeper which usually covers our antique tractor got killed off this year by Bitterroot and wild grapevines. Because of all the rain, everything has been growing like mad and we are seeing vines and weeds I’ve never seen before. Where did they come from?
The pictures I posted are a bit elusive since they are really individual trees amidst mostly green. But soon. I feel Autumn coming!

We are still IN the first foliage. If it chills down, the maples will begin to change bringing the really great color. We have some bright trees, but they stand out amidst the mostly still green trees. Very late for Autumn!

Hi Dawn
I wish we had your Festival of Leaves all year round. It wasn’t until I saw your photo with the label Virginia Creeper that I was able to finally identify the bright red leaves in the photo I submitted to you a couple of weeks ago – the Heron by the small flowing waterfall.
Here’s my offering for Week 3:
Best, Babsje
